Description

Korina wood is probably one of the most desired woods among guitarists. Many experts refer to Korina as a “deluxe” mahogany. Although they are very similar, the Korina has a sweeter, more responsive midrange, as well as being lighter and slightly brighter. However, it is a very limited one and therefore very exclusive, so it is very difficult to find instruments with this wood.

This was the wood of choice for the legendary Explorer and Flying V models, the latter introduced in 1958 by Gibson. And just a few hours from the Gibson headquarters is located the workshop of one of the most renowned luthiers on the planet: Gabriel Currie, who wanted to pay tribute to this flagship model with the ‘Albert 58’ series.

It is said that korina wood is a dream for the guitarist and a nightmare for the luthier, because it is a very demanding and complex wood to work with. These difficulties begin with the selection, as it is often difficult to find good large chunks without sections that have cracks and splits. It is also a very wet wood that must be sealed to stabilize it, and it must be dried in ovens specifically designed for this wood.

All of this takes many hours of work and an attention to detail that not many can offer. But Gabriel Currie has spent half of his life building guitars of the highest level for guitarists as demanding as Joe Perry, Jackson Brown, Charlie Starr, Josh Homme, or Joe Bonamassa among many others.

The result of so much effort is undoubtedly a guitar far superior to its predecessors, delivering not only exceptional sound, but also a dynamic response and playability that must be tested to believe. If you are looking for the guitar of your dreams, Echopark has made it come true.
