Waterloo guitars are inspired by the instruments of the 1920s and 1930s with which geniuses such as Robert Johnson and Willie Nelson not only learned to play, but also shook up the music scene. These were guitars focused on functionality above all else, in which many times the best woods were not used, the edges were not filed or excess glue was not dried up. But they were what people could afford at that time and thanks to that we enjoyed the music of many today considered geniuses. And there is no doubt that they created a style thanks to their rough and raw sound, very real, with a fast and dry attack.
Today, thanks to companies like Waterloo, the essence of that time has been recovered with current improvements, creating instruments that combine a ‘vintage’ soul with modern characteristics. And the WL SD Deluxe is a clear example. It is a guitar clearly inspired by the ornamentation of the instruments created by the Stella company, but with clear improvements not only in the wood, but also in the bracing and especially in the quality of construction, in which they have been taken into account. It counts down to the smallest detail, from the shape of the neck to the design of the bridge. All this results in a guitar that preserves the rawness and naturalness of the guitars of the time but with a tonal richness, dimension and warmth that you have to hear to believe.
