The history of Vintage Guitars dates back to the mid-1960s, when John Skewes decided to start his own musical instrument company. He started out modestly in his own home, and little by little the fame of his products began to grow exponentially to the point that he ended up designing and marketing his own brands.  In 1985, the ‘Vintage‘ line of guitars and basses was born, with the aim of manufacturing instruments with a vintage soul, in the image and likeness of instruments from the golden ages of music (the 50s, 60s and 70s), but taking advantage of all the innovations and advances of the current era.

The secret of its success lies in the willingness to offer affordable vintage looking guitars with excellent finishes, quality parts and features normally found in guitars that cost more than a thousand euros. To shape this vision, Trev Wilkinson joined forces with Skewes more than a decade ago, so Vintage instruments feature class-leading Wilkinson-designed hardware.

Certain features make Vintage guitars “best value for money“, basically making subtle changes to traditional designs to make them perform much better. Today, Skewes is the largest independent family-owned music merchandise distributor in the UK.
